Saturday, Feb. 1

Knox-Galesburg Symphony: First Chairs Forward

At 7:30 p.m. in Kresge, the Knox Galesburg Symphony will present First Chairs Forward, featuring Louise Polay, the KGS concertmaster on violin, Randall Faust, KGS’s principal horn and Bruce Polay, professor of music at Knox College and artistic director/conductor of KGS on piano. The symphony will feature works by Faust, Beethoven and Brahms.

Sunday, Feb. 2

February Food Film Fest: Food Matters

In a collaborative effort, Garden Club and KARES will present a February Film Series at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Lounge. Sunday’s film, “Food Matters,” will discuss selective eating and the effects healthy eating can have on diabetes, depression, heart disease and other conditions. There will be free hot chocolate and popcorn at the event.

Kate Mishkin
Kate Mishkin is a junior majoring in English literature and minoring in journalism. This is her first year as managing editor, after having served as co-news editor and co-mosaic editor. Kate is the recipient of two awards from the Illinois College Press Association for news and feature stories and one award from the Associated Collegiate Press. In 2014 she won the Theodore Hazen Kimble Prize and Ida M. Tarbell Prize in Investigate Journalism. During the summer of 2014, she will be interning at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
