Sports briefs: Prairie Fire week in review

MWC preseason basketball coaches’ polls releasedNews briefs

GRINNELL, IOWA — Both Knox College basketball teams come into the year with something to prove according to coaches in the conference. The women’s team is forecasted to finish ninth in the conference, tying with Grinell College with 23 points. The men’s team receieved the least points in the poll, as coaches predicted they would finish last in the conference. Hopefully this adds fuel to the Prairie Fire basketball teams, who went a combined 7-39 last year. Hopefully the freshman and sophomore heavy squads can make some noise this year. The women’s team opens the season at home against Eureka College next Saturday at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s contest against Concordia University – Chicago at 7 p.m. (Knox College Sports Information)
